Tripura celebrates birth anniversary of music maestro S D Burman

Agartala, Oct 01 (UNI) Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Thursday extended heartfelt tributes to the legendary singer and composer Sachin Dev Burman on his birth anniversary, acknowledging his significant contributions to Indian music and his profound association with Tripura.
During a commemorative programme, Dr Saha emphasized that Sachin Dev Burman's trajectory from a royal household in Tripura to becoming one of India's most esteemed musicians exemplified an inspiring narrative of exceptional talent, unwavering determination, and diligent effort.
"He originated from the royal family, where he possessed access to all privileges, yet he relinquished everything and forged his own distinctive identity," the Chief Minister said.
Dr Saha highlighted that Burman was born in Comilla, presently situated in Bangladesh, and underscored that the region's abundant folk traditions, melodic compositions, and musical heritage substantially influenced the development of his artistic perspective.
He subsequently relocated to Kolkata and subsequently to Mumbai, where he attained recognition as a prominent singer and composer. The Chief Minister emphasized that Burman's exceptional proficiency in synthesizing classical traditions, encompassing Dhrupad and Hindustani classical music, alongside folk melodies distinguished his compositions with a unique aesthetic quality.
His musical compositions, he further noted, persistently resonate with audiences throughout India and internationally. Dr Saha acknowledged the government's endeavours in safeguarding the residence connected to the illustrious musician and affirmed that his artistic legacy constitutes a source of distinction for Tripura.
Characterizing Burman as a self-made luminary, the Chief Minister encouraged the younger generation to derive insights from his existence and musical trajectory.
"Music constitutes something that dwells within every individual's heart," Dr Saha stated, adding that Burman's life shall perpetually motivate young individuals to pursue their aspirations with commitment, self-assurance, and steadfast resolve.
