Tripura govt provides jobs to 18 political violence victim families

Agartala, June 22 (UNI) The BJP-led government in Tripura has so far offered 18 jobs to the families whose breadwinners lost their lives in political violence during the 35-year rule of the Left Front and five years of Congress, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ratan Lal Nath said.
The jobs have been offered against permanent posts in various government departments, the minister said on Saturday night.
He said soon after coming to power in 2018, the BJP-IPFT coalition took a humanitarian step to support the families who lost their loved ones because of political violence. So far, 39 applications have been received, out of which 18 persons have already been provided with jobs.
Earlier, the state government had constituted a panel - Committee for Scrutiny of Applications Received for Providing Employment to Members of the Family of Persons Killed in Political Violence - under the chairmanship of Nath.
“From 1983 to 2018, several individuals lost their lives due to political clashes. This Initiative is a step towards supporting their families and upholding the values of democracy, as part of the government’s broader effort to provide socio-economic support to those affected by political unrest in the past," Nath underlined.
The committee, comprising senior bureaucrats and police officials, examines the applications based on reports from District Magistrates and Superintendents of Police. UNI BB SSP
