Tripura man imprisoned for raping his daughter

Agartala, June 19 (UNI) A special POCSO court on Thursday convicted a man for rape of his step daughter and awarded him 20 years of imprisonment along with a penalty of Rs 5,000.
The prosecution lawyer Ashmita Banik said, “The heinous incident occurred in August 2023. The 11-year old minor girl was raped by none other than her step farther. Even her mother didn’t support her at that hour of crisis.”
Her elder sister, who lives in Sabroom of South Tripura, came to know about the incident and immediately filed an FIR. Her mother, on the other hand, fled away with the accused, she said.
After the arrest of the accused person, investigating officer Rumi Bala Baidya submitted the charge sheet within a very short period. Based on all the evidence and forensic reports placed before the court,
She also informed that the Court had also ordered the Member of Secretary of State Legal Service Authority to compensate the victim as per the victim’s compensation scheme of section 357 of the CrPC. Ever since the case was lodged, the victim has been under the custody of the state government.
She is in a shelter home and leading a normal life with other children, Banik added.
