Tripura upgrading 204 agricultural markets to improve farmers' income

Agartala, Oct 11 (UNI) The Tripura government is upgrading infrastructure at 204 agricultural markets across the state to improve facilities for farmers and ensure better returns for their produce, Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath said on Sunday.
Addressing an event during the inauguration of several projects in Khowai, Nath said Tripura has 554 agricultural markets, of which infrastructure development work has been completed at 87, while work is underway at 117.
He said that the Tripura government has given priority to the cultivation of agricultural and horticultural crops in order to attain self-sufficiency not only in food grains but also in diverse horticultural and garden crops, thereby enhancing the aggregate income of farming communities.
