Two migrant labourers among three held for alleged gangrape of woman at Thalassery

Kannur, May 3 (UNI) Thalassery police on Saturday arrested three persons, including two migrant labourers hailing from Bihar, in connection with the alleged gangrape of a 32-year-old woman from Kannur.
The incident occurred on April 26 night near the railway track close to Thalassery railway station.
According to police, they arrested Prajith (30) of Muzhupilangad in Kannur and Asif (19) of Durgapura and Shahbul (24) of Pranpur, the two hail from Bihar.

The alleged assault took place on a short-cut road connecting Thalassery railway station to the new bus stand around 2230 hrs.
After the incident, the woman sought medical treatment at Kozhikode Medical College Hospital (KMCH), where doctors, upon learning of the nature of her injuries and trauma, informed the police.
An investigation by the Thalassery ACP, Kiran PB-led team examined the CCTV footage collected from the nearby sites which led to the arrest of the accused.
First the gang sexually attacked the woman near the railway track site and later forcibly took her to the railway over bridge. The survivor has since been relocated to a women's shelter home at Eranholi near Thalassery.
