UHBVN forum to hear power consumers’ financial disputes up to Rs 3 lakh on four days in Oct

Panchkula, Oct 1 (UNI) Electricity consumers from five Haryana districts will be able to take financial disputes involving amounts of more than Rs 1 lakh and up to Rs 3 lakh before the Panchkula Zonal Consumer Grievances Redressal Forum on four days this month, an Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN) official said on Thursday.
The forum will hold proceedings on October 5, 12, 19 and 27 for consumers from Panchkula, Ambala, Kurukshetra, Kaithal and Yamunanagar districts.
The official said that under Regulation 2.8.2, the zonal forum would hear complaints involving financial disputes of more than Rs 1 lakh and up to Rs 3 lakh in each case.
Complaints relating to incorrect electricity bills, tariff-related issues, meter security, defective meters and voltage problems can be taken up during the proceedings.
However, cases concerning power theft, misuse of electricity and fatal or non-fatal accidents will not be considered by the forum, the official said.
For a financial dispute between a consumer and the power utility, the consumer will be required to make the prescribed deposit before submitting the complaint. The amount will be calculated on the basis of the average electricity charges paid during the preceding six months, subject to the conditions laid down for such disputes.
Consumers will also have to certify that their case is not pending before any court, authority or other forum. Matters already under adjudication elsewhere will not be taken up.
The hearings will be held from 11.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. at the UHBVN headquarters, Vidyut Sadan, Industrial Plots 3 and 4, Sector 14, Panchkula.
UHBVN urged eligible consumers from the five districts to appear before the forum on the scheduled dates for redressal of their electricity-related grievances.
