Union minister Meghwal slams Mamata govt for 'appeasement policy'

Kolkata, June 28 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Law & Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal today slammed the Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress government for its alleged appeasement policy, which according to him led West Bengal to a state of chaos and breakdown of law and order.
Addressing the media here, Meghwal pointing at a recent alleged gang rape of a girl student in the state-aided law college in the city said the crime followed a year after a resident doctor was raped and murdered in the RG Kar Medivcal College and Hospital in northern part of the city.
"This is an example of the breakdown of law and order situation of a state owing to the appeasement policy of Mamata Didi," the Union minister said.
The BJP leader pointed his accusation towards the TMC government alleging that the law enforcement agencies were not working in a free and fair manner to pin the actual culprits.
He said the gang rape in the law college case was a pointer to the increasing deteriorating law and order in the state.
Meghwal said owing to alleged appeasement policy, the state was witnessing a spurt in crime.
The Union minister said the BJP would raise its voice against the deteriorating law and order situation in and outside Parliament.
He accused the Mamata Banerjee government of vote bank policy, in which, according to him, the offenders were getting safe haven after committing the crimes. He said only arrest would not deter the rate of crime if the criminals were not brought to justice.
"They ( criminals) need to be given exemplary punishment," said Meghwal.
