UP: CM addresses BJP's state working committee meeting in Lucknow

Lucknow, Oct 30 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, at the Bharatiya Janata Party's state working committee meeting held in Lucknow today, called on party workers to actively engage in the upcoming political challenges.
He said, "we must be vigilant against those who divide society in the name of caste. Those who create division believe in division and succeed in dividing through division. Therefore, we must keep in mind that if we don't divide, we won't be cut."
The Chief Minister appealed to workers to disseminate the government's achievements to the booth level, create a positive narrative on social media, add the names of voters left out in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list, and reach out to the last person in society.
He said that the BJP is the world's largest political party. The party's unique identity is its ideology, values, and ideals. Respected LK Advani ji often said that political priorities may change, but the party's values, ideals, and ideology never change. BJP workers work with complete dedication for this ideology, regardless of honour and insult.
Referring to the events of October 30, 1990, the Chief Minister said that this date is significant for BJP workers and those associated with the Ram Janmabhoomi movement. At that time, the Samajwadi Party government allegedly opened fire on Ram devotees and kar sevaks for political gain. The streets of Ayodhya were drenched in blood, and the waters of the Saryu river were stained with blood. The workers then resolved to endure lathicharge and bullets, but to build the temple there. Had the workers' morale been broken at that time and had they been deterred by criticism, would the construction of the grand Ram temple in Ayodhya be possible today? On January 22, 2024, millions of Sanatanis witnessed the historic occasion of the consecration of Ram Lalla. The Samajwadi Party, which opposed the Ram Temple movement, today talks about the development of Ayodhya, whereas the Congress and the Samajwadi Party have always been obstacles to Ayodhya's development, he claimed.
The Chief Minister said that Ayodhya once lacked electricity, sanitation, and basic amenities. Today, it has four-lane connectivity, double railway tracks, and an international airport. The Ayodhya airport is named after Maharishi Valmiki because of his significant contribution to spreading the story of Rama to the masses.
Targeting the Congress, the Chief Minister said that before 2014, the country was plagued by poverty, corruption, insecurity, chaos, and an identity crisis. The poor were only a vote bank for the Congress. He cited former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi's statement that out of every rupee sent from the central government, only 15 paise reaches the poor.
The Chief Minister said that this was the reality of corruption during Congress rule. However, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India's picture has changed. The country has moved from being among the Fragile Five to being among the top five economies in the world. The poor have received benefits like housing, toilets, Ujjwala gas connections, Ayushman cards, Jan Dhan accounts, and free rations. The poor are not an election issue for the BJP, but a commitment to providing them with a dignified life.
The Chief Minister said that before 2017, 35 districts in Uttar Pradesh were affected by encephalitis. Due to unhygienic conditions and contaminated drinking water, thousands of children succumbed to it every year. Gorakhpur's BRD Medical College itself was in a dilapidated condition. The then-governments did not make serious efforts to address this problem. After the BJP government came to power in 2017, encephalitis was effectively controlled within just two years through an action plan.
Accusing the Samajwadi Party of patronizing the mafia and corruption in recruitment processes, he said that previously, the Saifai Syndicate and the uncle-nephew extortion system dominated recruitment. Qualified candidates were denied appointments, and every recruitment was subject to court stays. In contrast, under the current government, nine and a half lakh youth have been given government jobs. Now, merit and hard work, not recommendations, are given importance in recruitment.
Yogi said that Uttar Pradesh was once considered a sick state, but the state is rich in natural and cultural resources. A leadership with a sick mentality had tarnished the state's image. The double-engine government has changed this perception. Today, Uttar Pradesh boasts approximately 60 per cent of the country's total expressways. Before 2017, the state had only two operational airports, while now it boasts 17, including five international and 12 domestic airports. The state's GSDP has increased from Rs ₹12 lakh crore to ₹36 lakh crore in nine years. The budget has risen from ₹3 lakh crore to ₹9.70 lakh crore. Per capita income has increased from ₹45,000 to ₹1.24 lakh. Female workforce participation has increased from 12 percent to 36 per cent. Sugarcane farmers have been paid ₹3.25 lakh crore in nine years. The state is no longer a sick state, but has emerged as a growth engine of the country's economy.
The Chief Minister told workers that a comparison between the government's performance and the tenure of previous governments must be presented to the public. To this end, he instructed workers to study the booklets provided to them at the meeting and distribute them at the booth level. He asked district presidents, district in-charges, and MLAs to develop a plan to distribute these booklets and comparative information to each booth.
Citing the example of the redevelopment of Kashi Vishwanath Dham, the Chief Minister explained that initially, there was confusion among saints and priests that the temple would be demolished in the name of corridor construction. He then personally communicated with the saints, informed them about the project, and resolved their doubts. He said that a lack of communication leads to misunderstandings. Therefore, workers must reach out to the public and communicate. Negative narratives must be countered with facts and positive actions.
Calling social media the biggest weapon against the opposition's negative narrative, the Chief Minister advised workers to remain vigilant. He said that every Mandal, Shakti Kendra, and booth should have an active social media team. Out of 1.77 lakh booths in the state, 1.63 lakh booths are active. Every day, positive stories about development work done in the villages and areas should be shared on social media from all these booths. If 1.63 lakh booths share positive news simultaneously, its widespread impact will be visible.
Appealing to connect Deepotsav and Diwali with social participation, he said that workers should distribute lamps and sweets to poor, deprived, and destitute families in their villages and booths. On the occasion of Chhath festival, they should also cooperate in arranging cleanliness and facilities at the local level. Referring to Janta Darshan, the Chief Minister said that in a democracy, the public is God. It is the responsibility of public representatives to listen to them and solve their problems.
Describing the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls as extremely important, the Chief Minister said that a comprehensive campaign is needed to improve the voter list in the state. Analysis of the voter list prior to the SIR revealed a large number of voters whose names are not included in the Assembly voter list. This includes those whose names are listed in the Panchayat voter list but not in the Assembly voter list. Many are taking advantage of government schemes despite not being included in the electoral roll. Additionally, the names of approximately 4.5 lakh youth in the 18-19 age group should also be included in the list.
He said that party workers should launch a campaign to add the names of eligible voters based on the information available on the Kamal Sathi app. He directed MPs, MLAs, Assembly in-charges, and District in-charges to regularly review this process. The Chief Minister emphasized that adding eligible names to the electoral roll is an important responsibility of the organization.
The Chief Minister said that the BJP has honoured figures like Lokmata Ahilyabai Holkar, Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh, Maharaja Bijli Pasi, warrior woman Uda Devi, Avantibai Lodhi, and Jhalkari Bai. Workers should spread the word about the contributions of these great men and warrior women to society. Instead of engaging in divisive politics through caste conferences, social programmes should be organized that unite all sections of society.
At the end of his address, the Chief Minister quoted lines from Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee, saying that the sacrifice is still incomplete, and the workers' contribution remains to be made. He called upon workers to establish strong communication between the organization, society, and the government and to disseminate the state's achievements to the people.
On this occasion, BJP State President and union Minister Pankaj Chaudhary, National General Secretary in-charge of the state Vinod Tawde, Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak, union Ministers Jitin Prasad, Prof. SP Singh Baghel, Kirti Vardhan Singh, BL Verma, Kamlesh Paswan, National Vice President Rekha Verma, State Organization General Secretary Dharampal along with the state co-incharge, ministers and members of the state executive committee were present.
