UP CM Yogi honours police personnel for demonstrating exemplary courage and devotion to duty

Lucknow, Oct 1 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday honoured police personnel for their exemplary courage, valour and dedication to duty by presenting them with gallantry medals.

On the occasion, the CM also released ‘Sangharsh’, a book by former DGP of UP Prakash Singh.
Paying tribute to the supreme sacrifice made in the line of police service, CM honoured Munes Devi, wife of martyred STF Inspector Sunil Kumar, by presenting her with a cash amount and an angavastram. Inspector Sunil Kumar had displayed exemplary courage in an encounter in the Jhinjhana area of Shamli on January 20, 2025, in which four criminals were killed. He attained martyrdom while performing his duty. On the occasion of Independence Day 2026, the government also announced that it would confer the Kirti Chakra posthumously on him.
