UP: CM Yogi pays tribute to Paswan, recalls his legacy of social justice

Lucknow, Oct 8 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, paying tribute to former union minister Ram Vilas Paswan, described him as a "vocal leader and a strong voice for Dalits and marginalised communities", saying he dedicated his life to social justice and advancing Dr. B.R. Ambedkar's vision.
Governor Anandiben Patel and CM Yogi paid tribute to Ram Vilas Paswan on his death anniversary during a bhajan programme held at an event in Sushant Golf City on Thursday.
Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan along with LJP (R) MP and UP incharge Arun Bharati were also present on the occassion along with thousands of Ram Vilas Paswan's supporters.
In wake of the coming Assembly polls, LJP (Ram Vilas) has stepped up its effort to spread its tentacles in the state and had even announced to contest some seats within the NDA.
The CM, in his address, said, "About 50-years-ago, a young leader like Ram Vilas Paswan emerged in Bihar politics, who strongly raised the voice of the Dalits and the deprived. The people of Bihar elected him to Parliament with the highest number of votes, giving him great honour."
During his time in Indian politics, Paswan worked tirelessly to awaken social consciousness and secure justice for the underprivileged.
Yogi said that he, as an MP, had the opportunity to work with Ram Vilas Paswan in Parliament for a long time. He always had reverence and respect for Indian traditions.
His endeavor was to ensure justice for the Dalits and underprivileged, and to ensure their respect and a proper place in mainstream society, he further added.
The CM said that Ram Vilas Paswan lived his life in accordance with his teachings. He championed the fight for social justice without discrimination. Even as a union Minister in the cabinets of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, his simple, affectionate, and kind demeanor touched people's hearts.
CM Yogi also expressed his gratitude to the Bihar government for organizing Ram Vilas Paswan's death anniversary as a "national event" in the state. He also thanked union Minister Chirag Paswan for organizing the event in Uttar Pradesh.
"The same respect that Ram Vilas Paswan received in Bihar will be accorded to him in Uttar Pradesh. Ram Vilas Paswan's absence is certainly felt, but it is a matter of satisfaction that Chirag Paswan is continuously working to carry forward his mission," the CM noted.
Furthermore, Yogi stated that as a union minister under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chirag Paswan is raising his voice on various platforms and carrying forward Ram Vilas Paswan's social concerns.
