UP govt allocates Rs 397.19 crore for payment of pending honorariums to literacy workers in 64 districts

Lucknow, Nov 2 (UNI) The Uttar Pradesh government has allocated around Rs 397.19 crore for clearing pending honorariums of personnel associated with the Sakshar Bharat Yojana in 64 districts of the state, officials said on Monday.
The allocation is aimed at clearing dues of district and block coordinators and motivators who worked under the scheme until March 31, 2018.
According to an order issued by Anil Bhushan Chaturvedi, Director and Secretary of the State Literacy Mission Authority, motivators will be paid an honorarium of Rs 2,000 per month, while district and block coordinators will receive Rs 6,000 per month.
The order states that payments will be made after verification of the attendance, work records and other relevant documents of the personnel concerned. The outstanding amounts will be determined on the basis of audit reports and records available at the district level.
The allocated funds can be used only for the specified purpose and cannot be diverted to other activities, the order said.
The concerned districts have been directed to utilise the funds in accordance with prescribed financial rules by December 31, 2026, and submit expenditure details along with utilisation certificates to the directorate by January 5, 2027.
The payments will be transferred directly to the beneficiaries' bank accounts, while district officials will be held accountable for any financial irregularities, the order said.
The move is expected to facilitate the disbursement of honorariums that have remained pending for several years.UNI MBD AAB
