UP: Two sentenced to life imprisonment for double murder

Firozabad (UP), May 21 (UNI) Two persons were sentenced to life imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 2,10,500 by a special court on Wednesday here in connection with the murder of two youths in Fariha area of Firozabad district here in Uttar Pradesh over 11 years back, prosecution sources said here.
The sources said the incident took place on October 3, 2013 in Kodar village under Fariha police station, when the villagers mistook two youths Nane Khan and Surendra as cattle thieves and thrashed them. "Both the youths died due to the beating. Later, the bodies were thrown in the drain, which were recovered by the police," they said.
Sub-inspector Kanhaiya Singh registered a case in the matter. "After investigation, the police filed a chargen sheet against village head Jitendra Pratap alias JP, Prempal, Ravindra, Bhupendra and Girendra.
The trial was held in the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge (SC-ST Act) Navneet Giri. "Jitendra Pratap, Prempal and Bhupendra died during the course of trial," they said.
Based on the testimony of witnesses and evidence, the court held Ravindra and Girendra guilty and sentenced both of them to life imprisonment. "The court also imposed a fine of Rs 2,10,500 on them," they said. UNI XC AB SSP
