Uttarakhand: Doval asks Indian techies to think innovative, implement it with integrity in national service

By Prithviraj Singh
Dehradun, Sep 19 (UNI) India's National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval today asked country’s techies to think innovative and work hard for its implementation with integrity in the national service.
Doval said this while addressing a gathering of passing out IIT Roorkee graduates on Saturday as NSA himself was conferred Honoris Causa degree (honorary degree) by the renowned institution of India.
Addressing the students of IIT Roorkee on the occasion of Institute’s Convocation ceremony 2026, Doval, the chief guest, said, “The challenges before India require young professionals and researchers who can think innovatively, act with integrity and contribute with a strong sense of purpose in the interest of the nation. I congratulate all the graduating students and wish them every success in their future endeavours. It is a privilege to be part of the convocation of IIT Roorkee, an institution that has made significant contributions to the nation through excellence in education, research and technological innovation."
He further said that graduating students carry not only the knowledge and skills acquired at the Institute but also responsibility to use them for the larger good of society and the nation. He asked the graduating IIT Roorkee students to work hard in creating new technologies for the well being of the country.
As he addressed the students on the first day of two-day convocation ceremony, Doval was conferred Honoris Causa degree (Honorary degree) by the IIT Chairman, Senate, recognising his distinguished public service.
Apart from Doval, IIT Roorkee convocation ceremony was marked by the presence of high-profile dignitaries such as former solicitor general of India Harish Salve and Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) NS Raja Subramani.
In his address, country's ace Supreme Court lawyer Harish Salve, who is also Chairman of Institute’s Board of Governors, said, “I hope you use the opportunities coming to you not only for fulfilling lives but also to contribute meaningfully to the society and the nation. As you step beyond the familiar and secure environment of IIT Roorkee, you will encounter a world that will not always offer easy answers or predictable paths. Embrace these challenges and do not be afraid of failure, for failure is often a best teacher. The successes you achieve will be important, but the setbacks you face will often teach you the lessons that shape your character and strengthen your resolve. As you move forward, remember that your achievements stand on the shoulders of those who have supported and guided you.”
While, CDS said, “Progress of a nation depends greatly on the knowledge, capabilities and commitment of its young generation. Institutions such as IIT Roorkee play an important role in preparing young minds to address emerging challenges through technology, innovation and research. Passing out graduates must pursue excellence while being conscious of their responsibility towards the nation and society.”
Significantly, IIT Roorkee is a globally leading institution in technological education, research and innovation. In the QS World University Rankings, the Institute holds global ranking of 335 while it stands at overall seventh and sixth position among engineering institutions position nationally under 2026 NIRF ranking.
