Wanted criminal killed in police encounter in Firozabad

Firozabad (UP), June 20 (UNI) A criminal wanted in murder and robbery case was killed in an encounter with the police in Shikohabad area of Firozabad district here in Uttar Pradesh on Friday, a senior police officer said here.

Senior Superintendent of Police Saurabh Dixit said that on Friday morning, Shikohabad police station received information from an informer that wanted murder and robbery criminal Raju Khan was in the area. "Police surrounded the criminal near Nova Factory and asked him to surrender, but the criminal started firing indiscriminately at the police team," he said.

He said that the police team retaliated in self-defense and fired in which the criminal got injured. The injured criminal was admitted to the hospital by the police for treatment. He died during treatment.

Raju Khan, son of Kallu Khan, is originally a resident of Raipura in Ramgarh, who was recently living in Shahganj Agra.

SSP Saurabh Dixit confirmed the death of Raju Khan during treatment in the related case and said that the miscreant Raju Khan is accused of looting and killing Munna Lal Yadav and his wife Mithlesh Yadav in Bansi Nagar of Shikohabad on March 5. Apart from this, on June 15, an old woman Surajmukhi was seriously injured in village Malkhanpur after looting and attempting to kill her while she was sleeping outside her house.

Raju used to target old people and he was currently living in Agra and used to come from Agra to commit the crime. He was identified after monitoring two hundred CCTV footage cameras. Deputy Inspector General Agra Parikshit had announced a reward of Rs 50,000 and SSP had announced a reward of Rs 25,000 for the arrest of Raju Khan.
