Wet spell triggers flashflood, 2 dozen vehicles wash away in HP

Shimla, May 24 (UNI) The local Meteorological Centre has issued a yellow warning for thunderstorms, accompanied by lightning and gusty winds ranging from 40–50 kmph, for May 25 and 26 in seven districts of Sirmaur, Solan, Shimla, Mandi, Kullu, Kangra, and Chamba — and for all 12 districts on May 27 and 28.
A wet spell is expected to persist across Himachal for the next six days.
On Saturday, gusty winds with speed ranging from 37 to 56 kmph were recorded in Reckong Peo, Tabo, Kotkhai, Bajaura, and Seobagh. Rainfall was measured at Rohru (10 mm), Jubbarhatti (2.6 mm), Jubbal (2.4 mm), and Chamba (2 mm). No snowfall was reported.
There was no significant change in temperatures. Una remained the hottest with a maximum of 39.2 degrees Celsius, while Keylong was the coldest at 7.3 degrees C.
Weather conditions are likely to deteriorate again with light to moderate rainfall forecasted for mid and lower hills on May 27 and 28, and isolated rainfall in higher hills on May 25.
