Woman arrested for duping youth of lakhs on the pretext of sending him to Australia

Kaithal, June 18 (UNI) The district police as per the instructions of SP Aastha Modi is tightening the noose around those duping youths promising to send them abroad in search of green pastures.
The Economic Cell team arrested a woman Ranjit Kaur, resident of Baba Bakala Sahib District Amritsar Punjab.
The Police spokesperson said that according to the complaint of Mahindra Pal, a resident of village Khedi Ghulam Ali village, he wanted to send his boy Naveen abroad. For this, he interacted with Ranjit Kaur, a resident of village Bakala Punjab, running an office in Patiala under the name of Ranjit Immigration.
Ranjit Kaur said that she will send Naveen to Australia and asked for Rs 25 lakh for this work.
The accused said that out of this, 10 lakh rupees will have to be paid and the outstanding amount is to be given on reaching Australia. He gave Rs 10 lakh to the accused between November 2023 to January 2024.
Ranjit Kaur said that first Naveen will be sent to Bangkok and then sent to Australia from there. On January 26, accused Ranjit Kaur sent Naveen to Bangkok, but even after four days, she did not send him to Australia and asked him to come back to Mumbai.
Naveen lived in Mumbai nearly two months and at the behest of the accused, Naveen deposited Rs 4.76 lakh in the account of Harjeet Kaur, a friend of Ranjit Kaur from his account. Naveen returned home from Mumbai in April 2024. When he again interacted with the accused he asked her why she gave fake visa to him.
Due to the fake visa, when he asked for his money back, the accused gave him a cheque which bounced. On repeated demands by Victim to return his amount accused Ranjit Kaur and her associates threatened to kill him .
A case was registered in the police station Chika. The accused was produced in a local court and taken on three days police remand.
