WSC-Bhubaneswar gets Centre of excellence tag from union Ministry

Bhubaneswar, Nov 4 (UNI) The World Skill Center (WSC), Bhubaneswar, has been empanelled as a Centre of Excellence-Skills by the union Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, placing it among 19 institutions recognised under the national framework.
The Certificate of Recognition was presented to WSC CEO Rashmi Ranjan Mohapatra by MSDE Secretary Debashree Mukherjee at a ceremony in New Delhi on November 2. The recognition is valid for three years, from October 9, 2026, to October 8, 2029.
WSC has been empanelled under the Multi-Sectoral category in recognition of its capacity to provide advanced, industry-aligned training across multiple domains. The institution, established under Odisha's Department of Skill Development and Technical Education, offers technology-enabled training, practical learning and industry engagement.
Mohapatra said the recognition would strengthen WSC's contribution to India's skill development ecosystem while preparing Odisha's youth to meet global industry standards and access international employment opportunities. The centre aims to take forward the state's vision of moving from 'Skilled in Odisha' to 'Skilled for the World'.
Under the CoE-Skills framework, empanelled institutions will contribute to specialised training, assessment, mentorship, career guidance and capacity-building of trainers and assessors.
The recognition will enable WSC to expand its role in national skilling initiatives through specialised programmes, industry partnerships and collaboration with other institutions, strengthening Odisha's position as a hub for industry-ready talent.
