Nashik, May 2 (UNI) Yoga is a part of Indian tradition. Yoga has become a valuable gift to the world due to the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Minister of Ayush, Prataprao Jadhav said here today.
He was speaking at a function organised by the Union Ministry of AYUSH to mark the 50-day countdown to International Yoga Day, at Gauri Patangan, Nashik this morning.
Citizens from various countries around the world are participating in the programme organised on the occasion of International Yoga Day. Due to this, Yoga has become a healthy basis for citizens of the world, he said.
On this occasion, MP Bhaskar Bhagre, MLA Seema Hire, Divisional Commissioner Dr. Praveen Gedam, Vice Chancellor of Maharashtra University of Health Sciences Dr. Madhuri Kanitkar, Dr. Kashinath Samagandi of Morarji Desai National Yoga Institute, Dr. Vishwas Mandlik of Yoga Vidya Gurukul and others were present.
The Yoga Sangam Portal was inaugurated by dignitaries on this occasion.
Union Minister Jadhav said that Nashik city is a center of spirituality and culture. Kumbh Mela is organised here every 12 years. Kumbh Mela is a confluence of faith and tradition. Similarly, Yoga will be a confluence of health, culture and unity.
It is a matter of satisfaction that the Yoga Day programme is being held on the banks of the Godavari river. Various programs will be held on June 21, 2025 on the occasion of International Yoga Day.
This program is being held as a part of it. The concept of 'Vasudhev Kutumbakam' is being realised through Yoga Day. Yoga Day is a festival which helps in bringing about positive changes in human life. He also said that the Yoga Day programme has become an international festival.
Minister Jadhav also said that information should be given about the benefits of yoga to the people.
Joint Secretary of the Ministry of AYUSH Dr. Monalisa Das gave the introduction. A large number of citizens were present on this occasion, and many citizens presented various demonstrations of yoga.
