'Gandhari' sets new Netflix record, garners 9.6 mn views in second week

Mumbai, Sep 16 (UNI) Taapsee Pannu-starrer "Gandhari" has registered a sharp rise in viewership during its second week on Netflix, recording 9.6 million views and 18.7 million watch hours worldwide.
According to official global data from Netflix, this is the highest viewership in a week for any Indian Netflix Original film. The film has reached the first position in the global chart of non-English films. It is trending at number one in 17 countries, while it is among the top 10 in 58 countries.
The film garnered 5.9 million views and 11.5 million watch hours in its first week, with viewership increasing significantly in its second week.
"Gandhari" marks writer and producer Kanika Dhillon's fourth consecutive film with Netflix. It also marks the third Netflix film for Pannu and Kanika Dhillon, who previously worked together in "Haseen Dillruba" and "Phir Aayi Haseen Dillruba."
Pannu said that the love the film has received worldwide and the ever-growing viewership have been overwhelming. She said that the audience's continued engagement with the film beyond its initial release reflects their connection.
Dhillon expressed her gratitude to audiences, saying that the strong viewership in the second week is a sign that audiences have resonated with the film's story. She thanked Netflix and Monica Shergill for supporting Indian stories.
Produced by Katha Pictures and directed by Devashish Makhija, "Gandhari" is the story of a mother who overcomes all odds to rescue her kidnapped child. The film is streaming worldwide on Netflix.
