Angel One opens US share and ETF investments through GIFT City with brokerage waiver until December 2026

Mumbai, Oct 19 (UNI) Angel One has introduced a facility allowing Indian investors to purchase US-listed shares and exchange-traded funds through GIFT City, expanding its international investment services. The brokerage firm has announced zero transaction brokerage charges until December 2026, although regulatory and other applicable costs will continue.
The service follows approval from the International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA), permitting brokers to facilitate international investments through GIFT City. Angel One is introducing the facility gradually through its mobile application, with access currently restricted to selected users. The company expects to extend availability to all users by mid-November.
Investors will be able to buy shares of major international companies, including Apple, Microsoft, Alphabet, Amazon, Nvidia, Netflix, Spotify and Toyota, alongside US-listed exchange-traded funds. The platform will also offer fractional investing, enabling customers to purchase portions of individual shares instead of acquiring entire shares.
The initiative comes as Indian investors increasingly seek international diversification and exposure to industries with substantial representation in American financial markets. These include artificial intelligence, cloud computing and semiconductor technology. The facility will enable investors to hold overseas securities alongside their existing domestic investment portfolios.
Under the introductory arrangement, Angel One will waive transaction brokerage charges until the end of December 2026. From January 2027, the company will introduce brokerage charges of 0.1 per cent per trade, subject to a minimum charge of US$0.99.
However, investors will remain liable for applicable regulatory charges, Goods and Services Tax and foreign exchange conversion expenses throughout the promotional period. The brokerage waiver therefore does not eliminate every cost associated with international transactions.
Investments made through the facility will be governed by the Reserve Bank of India's Liberalised Remittance Scheme. Investors must also consider fluctuations in the exchange rate between the Indian rupee and US dollar, as currency movements can influence their investment returns.
