Anjali Patil’s ‘Selvi’ unveils new poster ahead of Busan world premiere

Mumbai, Sep 28 (UNI) "Selvi", the Tamil drama starring National Award-winning actress Anjali Patil, has revealed a new poster ahead of its world premiere at the 31st Busan International Film Festival in South Korea.
Directed by debut filmmaker Sailesh Rathnakumar, the story revolves around Selvi, a migrant home-care nurse who works under extremely difficult conditions in the homes of the wealthy. Her shifts sometimes last 12 hours, sometimes as long as 72 hours, making it difficult for her to find time for rest, personal freedom, and her own life.
Beginning with the realities of migration, female friendship, and caregiving, the story evolves into a psychological thriller. As events from Selvi's past unfold, the film explores aspects of memory, survival, and the lengths a person will go to save their own life.
The visual idea for the film's new poster came from Anushka Madhavan, was developed by Rathnakumar, and finalised by Sri Theertha. The poster attempts to capture Selvi's inner world through imagery, movement, and various layers.
The film's producer and lead actress, Patil, said that "Selvi" is a deeply personal film for her, and that this journey as a producer and actress holds special significance for her. She said that the film explores migration, caregiving, labour, dignity, and survival through the Indian experience. She expressed her excitement about presenting the film to an international audience in Busan.
The film is edited by nine-time National Award winner A. Sreekar Prasad, and sound design is by National Award winner Anand Krishnamurthy, who won the National Award for "Ponniyin Selvan: Part I." The film also stars Archana Padmini and Vinod Kishan in lead roles.
"Selvi" is co-produced by the Red Sea Fund, with support from Hong Kong Asia Film Financing. The film will have its world premiere at the Busan International Film Festival in October. UNI NST CDS
