Delhi LG & CM Gupta launch multiple health initiatives for bolstering healthcare

New Delhi, Oct 6 (UNI) Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday launched several public welfare health initiatives during the state-level ‘ASHA Sammelan-2026 and ASHA Samman Samaroh’ held at the Thyagraj Stadium, under the ongoing Seva Sankalp Abhiyan.
LG has said that healthy citizens are the foundation of a developed and empowered Delhi, and the initiatives launched in this direction aim to further strengthen national capital’s healthcare system by bringing together modern technology, effective public health systems and a humane approach.
According to LG, the ASHA workers play a crucial role on the front lines of the healthcare system by taking health services and awareness to pregnant women, children and families. He said that increasing their monthly incentive from Rs 3,000 to Rs 6,000 is a recognition of their contribution and dedication.
He also appreciated the ANMOL initiative and the newly built SOTTO centre at GB Pant Hospital for their role in early identification of health problems among newborns and timely treatment, as well as in strengthening organ donation and transplantation services.
The event saw the virtual inauguration of the SOTTO building at GB Pant Hospital, the expansion of the ANMOL initiative, the launch of the Nursing Home Management System portal and the announcement of a significant increase in the incentive for ASHA workers.
Meanwhile, speaking on the occasion, CM Gupta has said that ASHA workers, who care for the health of every family, take healthcare services and government schemes to people’s doorsteps. “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, our government is committed to ensuring that those who serve every family are also given due care, respect, support and welfare,” she said.
According to Sandhu, the Nursing Home Management System portal will make processes such as registration and renewal online and transparent, simplifying procedures, reducing unnecessary administrative hurdles and improving monitoring.
He added that the in line with PM Modi’s vision of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas’, the government is working to ensure that healthcare services reach the last person in society. Efforts are continuing to build a healthier, more capable and developed capital through a combination of technology, strong health systems and compassionate service.
Throwing light on organ donation, CM said it is not merely a medical procedure but a symbol of humanity, compassion and respect for life. Organs donated after a person’s death can give a new lease of life to someone in need, Gupta said, making an appeal to Delhi’s residents to spread awareness on the subject.
She also urged ASHA workers to take the message of organ donation to families and senior citizens and inform those interested about the process. UNI APS CDS
