Feminism doesn't mean taking away men's rights, it's about demanding equality: Fatima Sana Shaikh

Mumbai, Sep 23 (UNI) Actress Fatima Sana Shaikh has spoken about feminism, saying the movement is not about taking away men’s rights but about seeking equal rights for women.
Shaikh, who is playing the role of a brave police officer in the upcoming series "Hunkkaar: The Roar", said, "Many people see feminism as a bad word. Being a feminist does not mean that I am snatching the rights of any man. I am just demanding equal rights for myself."
Citing the example of actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas, she said that calling yourself a feminist doesn't diminish your audience's love.
According to Fatima, if the intention is clear and the message is presented correctly, people will definitely listen.
In the film, she essays the role of a police officer who investigates a case involving a minor girl's accusations of sexual abuse against a spiritual guru.
The 34-year-old actress described the project as one of the most rewarding and learning experiences of her career. She said the series' producers treated her as an equal and valued her opinions.
Birla Studios and Applause Entertainment, in association with Purple Pebble Pictures and Mangata Films, have produced the series. Directed by Karan D. Kapadia and Nitya Mehra, "Hunkkaar: The Roar" will stream on JioHotstar from September 25. UNI NST SAS
