Gurugram police arrest two alleged arms suppliers, seize eight pistols

Gurugram, Nov 2 (UNI) Police have arrested two men from Madhya Pradesh with eight country-made pistols and 16 magazines allegedly meant for supply in Delhi-NCR, a police spokesman said on Monday.
The arrests take the number of people held in the case to four, with 13 pistols and 27 magazines recovered so far.
The two men, identified as Durgesh and Narendra alias Naren, both residents of Bamanala village in Madhya Pradesh’s Khargone district, were arrested on November 1 near GD Goenka University on the Sohna-Gurugram Road.
Police said they had travelled from Madhya Pradesh by bus carrying the weapons and were intercepted before they could deliver the consignment.
Their arrests followed the questioning of Deepak and Rahul, who were held by the Sector-40 Crime Branch in Sector-112, Bajghera, on October 29. Police recovered five pistols, 11 magazines and a car from their possession.
A case was registered at Bajghera police station under the Arms Act. Deepak and Rahul were produced before a court on October 30 and remanded in police custody for five days, the spokesman said.
Information obtained during their questioning led investigators to Durgesh and Narendra, who had allegedly supplied the weapons recovered from the first two accused.
According to police, Durgesh and Narendra worked for a person allegedly manufacturing illegal pistols in Khargone. Their role included procuring, transporting and supplying weapons to buyers in Delhi-NCR.
Police said the pair had allegedly been involved in the trade for about four years.
“They used to receive a commission of Rs 7,000 per weapon for supplying illegal arms,” the police statement said.
Investigators are trying to identify and arrest the principal supplier, locate the suspected weapon-manufacturing facility in Madhya Pradesh and trace others involved in the network, the spokesman said.
