Himachal: Parmar varsity inks tie-up with Australia's Western Sydney University

Solan, Sep 22 (UNI) In a major stride toward internationalising higher education in the hill state, Dr. YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry (YSPUHF), Nauni, has forged a landmark academic collaboration with Australia's Western Sydney University (WSU), unlocking direct global management pathways for its students.
The centrepiece of this strategic partnership is an integrated 3.5 1.5-year pathway designed to seamlessly bridge undergraduate technical training with world-class corporate leadership. Under this framework, undergraduates at Nauni can transition into an internationally recognised Master of Business Administration (MBA) from WSU after completing three and a half years of their core degree.
The varsity spokesman said that postgraduate segment will be split between two world-class hubs: students will spend their initial MBA year at WSU's state-of-the-art India campus in Greater Noida before heading to Australia for an immersive six-month capstone semester.
The initiative encompasses key undergraduate streams at the varsity, including BSc (Hons) Horticulture, BSc (Hons) Forestry, BTech Biotechnology, BSc (Hons) Agribusiness Management, BSc (Hons) Natural Farming, and BTech Food Technology.
Fostering Agri-Tech Entrepreneurs
University officials emphasised that the alliance is calibrated to meet a critical industry need: fusing deep scientific and domain expertise with sharp commercial acumen. By equipping specialists in horticulture, natural farming, and food processing with global management and entrepreneurial skills, the curriculum bypasses rigid traditional academia to create agile, market-ready innovators.
"This interdisciplinary model allows our young scientists and technocrats to cross over into executive business education without academic disruption," spokesman said.
He said, "It positions our students right at the forefront of agribusiness leadership and venture creation."
Expanding the scope beyond undergraduates, the partnership also introduces an exclusive 1 1.5-year dual-degree MBA pathway. Under this arrangement, postgraduate scholars will spend one year in the MBA (Agribusiness/General) programme at Nauni followed by 18 months of intensive study at WSU in Australia, graduating with two prestigious postgraduate credentials awarded independently by both institutions.
The bilateral partnership has already borne fruit at the doctoral level. Two YSPUHF research scholars, Vijay and Sujit, are actively pursuing dual PhD programmes at WSU, while three more scholars have earned admission under the same collaborative research umbrella.
He further said that WSU's School of Business holds the coveted AACSB accreditation—a gold-standard hallmark of business education achieved by fewer than six per cent of business schools globally.
Additionally, the varsity announced that it will host walk-in interviews on September 24 for admission to self-financing MBA seats at the Department of Agribusiness Management on the Nauni campus.
Eligible candidates must hold a bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognised university with a minimum aggregate of 50 per cent marks or equivalent CGPA. A relaxation of five per cent is applicable for SC, ST, and Persons with Disabilities (PwD) candidates.
