HP: Bharatotsav blends India’s culinary heritage with AI at CUHP

Dharamshala, Sep 25 (UNI) The Central University of Himachal Pradesh (CUHP) on Friday concluded its week-long tourism festival Charaiveti_2026 with Bharatotsav, showcasing India’s culinary and handicraft diversity through digital technology and AI.
Organised by the School of Tourism, Travel and Hospitality Management to mark UN World Tourism Day 2026, the festival featured over 25 activities based on the theme “Digital Agenda & AI Redesign Tourism.”
More than 20 student stalls showcased regional cuisines and crafts, including Bihar’s Litti Chokha, Odisha cuisine, Kullu food and Himachali Dham. QR codes at the stalls provided recipes, cultural histories and AI-generated travel information linked to the showcased traditions.
Dean Academics Prof Pardeep Kumar inaugurated the event in the presence of District Tourism Development Officer Vinay Dhiman, Dean Students’ Welfare Prof Sunil Thakur, Dean SOTTHM Prof Ashish Nag, faculty members and other dignitaries.
Prof Kumar said tourism was not merely about travelling but also about experiencing India’s cultural diversity, while Dhiman highlighted the potential of AI in tourist safety, crowd management and promoting offbeat destinations.
Prof Nag said the event demonstrated how food and digital storytelling could become powerful tools for promoting tourism globally.
The festival also featured a heritage visit to Guler, treasure hunt, debate on AI in tourism, street play, heritage walk, community outreach, plantation and cleanliness drives.

Lucknow, Sep 25 (UNI) Veteran socialist leader and former leader of the opposition in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly, Ram Govind Chaudhary, passed away here on Friday night.
He was around 80 and breathed his last at the SGPGI hospital in Lucknow.
The former UP minister had closely worked with Jayaprakash Narayan and Chandra Shekhar.
