IGP Kashmir reviews Srinagar security grid, traffic decongestion measures with stakeholders

Srinagar, Sep 21 (UNI) Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Sujit Kumar on Monday chaired security review-cum-traffic management meeting of Srinagar city and directed authorities to strengthen surveillance at entry and exit points besides taking coordinated measures to ease traffic congestion at key choking points.
The meeting was attended by senior officers from the police, traffic and paramilitary forces.
At the outset, the participating officers briefed the IGP Kashmir on the prevailing security scenario in their respective areas. They also shared their inputs and suggestions, which were discussed to identify gaps and further improve traffic management and security arrangements, a police spokesman said.
The existing city security grid and deployment of personnel were reviewed, with particular emphasis on realigning naka points wherever required to enhance security coverage and reduce traffic congestion. The meeting focused on ensuring the smooth flow of vehicular traffic without compromising the existing security grid.
IGP Kashmir directed the implementation of security arrangements across intra-zone, inter-zone, inter-district and peripheral areas.
Kumar further directed that check posts at the entry and exit points of Srinagar City be reinforced, with seamless coordination and real-time information sharing among the Traffic Police, District Police and naka points to facilitate effective monitoring and a swift response.
IGP Kashmir also stressed the need to leverage technology to improve traffic regulation, surveillance, coordination and information sharing, thereby making traffic and security arrangements more effective.
The meeting concluded with the IGP Kashmir reiterating the importance of continuous review, close coordination and the professional execution of security and traffic-management measures, with a focus on public safety and minimising inconvenience to commuters.

Six arrested for assaulting hotel worker in Gurugram; two cars, three sticks seized

Panchkula, Sep 21(UNI) Haryana Police have arrested six men for allegedly assaulting a hotel worker with sticks following a dispute over payment for food in Gurugram, a police spokesman said here on Monday.
The spokesman said the incident took place at around 9 p.m. on September 16 when the complainant, who works as a helper at a hotel, allegedly got into an argument with a customer who had come to collect food. The customer allegedly called his associates, who attacked the complainant and his companion with sticks, leaving the complainant seriously injured.

27-year-old man dies after honeybee attack in Panchkula forest

Panchkula, Sept 21 (UNI) A 27-year-old man died after being attacked by a swarm of honeybees while he had gone to collect firewood with two friends in a forest area near Pinjore in Haryana's Panchkula district, according to information provided by his family.
The deceased was identified as Raj Kumar, son of Manveer Singh, a resident of the labour colony at Rampur Seuri village. According to the family, Raj Kumar and his two friends had gone to the HMT forest area on September 18 to collect firewood when they were attacked by honeybees.
