Israel prepared to attack Iran even without US if necessary: Netanyahu

Jerusalem, Oct 19 (UNI) Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said Israel is prepared to attack Iran without US participation if necessary, pledging to overthrow Tehran's government and making pre-emptive strikes a central pillar of his security doctrine.
Speaking on Sunday, Netanyahu argued that Iran would rebuild its nuclear and military capabilities as long as its current leadership remained in power, signalling that Israel was prepared to launch further attacks without waiting for Washington to join.
"If we need to act alone, we will act alone," he said.
Netanyahu cited Israel's previous campaign against Iran, recalling that he had told US President Donald Trump he would attack Tehran regardless and invited American forces to participate in a strike on the Fordow nuclear facility.
He described the campaign as unfinished business, explicitly identifying the overthrow of Iran's government as an objective.
"We are working on it and we will do it," Netanyahu said.
Iran has repeatedly maintained that its nuclear programme is peaceful and denied seeking nuclear weapons. Netanyahu, however, claimed that US-Israeli attacks had prevented Tehran from acquiring an atomic bomb intended to destroy Israel.
Presenting his security doctrine, Netanyahu argued that Israel must prioritise offensive action over defence. He compared striking first to gaining an advantage in a childhood street fight and said Israel could establish military bases far beyond its borders.
"We will have to live by our sword in order to live for many years," he said.
Netanyahu also outlined plans to seize and destroy what he described as threat centres in the occupied West Bank. He identified preventing Palestinian statehood as a fundamental principle of his policy and included disrupting military and civilian systems in Israel's deterrence strategy.
The remarks come amid stalled indirect negotiations between Washington and Tehran over the war launched by the US and Israel in February. Trump rejected an Iranian proposal last month as "unacceptable", arguing that the US blockade had left Tehran in a weakened position and that any agreement would have to be reached on Washington's terms.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Saturday that normal shipping through the Strait of Hormuz could resume within seven days if the US accepted Tehran's conditions. These include lifting the naval blockade, easing restrictions on Iranian oil exports, releasing frozen assets and ending hostilities across the region, including Israeli operations in Gaza and Lebanon.
Trump has continued to threaten renewed bombing, while reports have suggested that US officials expect major combat operations could resume after the November midterm elections.
Tehran has warned that another attack would trigger a broader retaliation, potentially targeting American technology infrastructure across the Gulf.
