Maha: FWICE calls for strict security checks at film sets after Tiger Shroff firing incident

Mumbai, Oct 24 (UNI) The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has called for tighter security at film and television shooting locations across Maharashtra following the recent firing incident involving Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff.
In a security advisory issued to producers, production houses and line producers, the federation has urged the industry to introduce stricter entry procedures, verify the identities and backgrounds of personnel, and prevent unauthorised individuals from accessing shooting premises.
The advisory covers studios, outdoor locations and temporary shooting sets, with particular attention to night schedules and shoots conducted in isolated areas.
FWICE has asked production units to verify the identity documents and professional credentials of actors, technicians, junior artistes, daily-wage workers, drivers, vendors and other personnel before granting them access. Producers have also been advised to maintain daily records of people entering and leaving shooting locations, including their photographs and contact details.
The federation has recommended the deployment of trained private security guards and coordination with local police wherever required. Visitors and fans should not be permitted entry without valid passes issued by the concerned production unit.
Producers have also been asked to inform the local police about shooting schedules and locations in advance. Any threat calls, extortion demands or suspicious activities should be reported to the police without delay.
The advisory calls for additional background checks on newly recruited workers, particularly those engaged through contractors in the art, lighting, transport and catering departments.
FWICE President B N Tiwari said recent firing incidents involving properties linked to film personalities, including Salman Khan, filmmaker Rohit Shetty and Tiger Shroff, had raised concerns over the safety of people associated with the entertainment industry.
He stressed that the security of artistes, technicians and other workers must be given priority and that production houses should ensure compliance with verification procedures.
The advisory follows an incident on October 18, when two motorcycle-borne assailants allegedly opened fire at Shroff's car near the Jamnabai Narsee International School ground in the Vile Parle-Juhu area of Mumbai. The Mumbai Crime Branch said five to six rounds were fired. The actor escaped relatively unhurt, while his driver and a bystander sustained injuries.
A case was registered under DCB CID CR No. 143/26 under Sections 109(1) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Sections 3 and 25 of the Arms Act.
According to the information provided in the case, 10 people allegedly linked to Anil Pandit, an associate of the Lawrence Bishnoi gangster, have been arrested from Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. Pandit reportedly claimed responsibility for the attack on social media. Two firearms and 10 live cartridges allegedly connected to the crime were recovered from Surat in Gujarat on October 23.
FWICE said it was in contact with Mumbai Police and would meet representatives of producers' associations next week to discuss a common security framework and a dedicated helpline for cine workers.
The federation has urged production houses and other industry stakeholders to remain vigilant and strengthen preventive measures to protect personnel working on film and television projects.
