Uttarakhand: Microplan to facilitate smooth commuting for pilgrim in Haridwar Kumbh 2027

Dehradun, Sep 21 (UNI) Uttarakhand government is working hard on a microplan for easy accessibility of the Haridwar Kumbh 2027 destinations for the pilgrims.
Plan includes smooth passages of approach roads and pinpointed signages across the Kumbh area for the pilgrims coming to Haridwar.
Going by the information shared by the officials deployed for Kumbh Mela today, micro preparations are in progress on a plan to facilitate smooth access routes to the religious sites, railway stations and bus stands.
Stressing upon need for micro level planning to facilitate pilgrims, officials said Kumbh Mela action plan will lead to major improvement of amenities for pedestrians. It will be a big help for the pilgrims to reach their desired destinations considering the extent of difficulties and confusion that crop up during Kumbh.
According to the officials, access routes and tracks to the transit hubs are being developed elaborately at the cost of nearly Rs ₹65 lakh. The Mela administration officials stated that this will be completed by the end of October.
Officials further shared that wide footpaths will be constructed in entire mela area leading to the railway and bus stations in Hardiwar city. These access routes will be developed multi-directionally to ensure easy commuting for the devotees. The actions, informed the officials, will be important for crowd management and augmenting the convenience for the pilgrims during three months Kumbha Festival starting in January 2027.
In an instruction issued by the government to Haridwar district and Kumbh authorities, the latter were directed to ensure that all works are completed within given deadlines and with complete accountability.
The Garhwal Divisional Commissioner Anand Swaroop in a recent meeting with Mela officials asked them to expedite the execution of work plan, keep deadline in view. He asked departments to complete their designated tasks within the stipulated time limit and every department of the Mela administration must work hard as per targeted deadline.
Under the arrangements for the Kumbh Mela, funds have been approved for the Urban Development Department to construct a lane bridge over the Sukhi river in Haridwar. Additionally, approval has been granted for the construction of a bridge over the Mayapur Scrap Channel connecting Dakshdeep and Bairagi Camp. These development projects will enhance traffic management and convenience for devotees during the festival.
"All efforts are being made to make the Haridwar Kumbh 2027 a grand success with its divinity intact. Improving access routes to the railway and bus stations, construction of footpaths and developing bridges will provide better facilities to the devotees and a smooth and more successful organisation of the mega religious gathering at Haridwar Kumbh 2027. Encroachments are being removed to the hilt and a mega face-lift will soon be visible," said Dayanand Saraswati, Additional Mela Officer Haridwar.

Six arrested for assaulting hotel worker in Gurugram; two cars, three sticks seized

Panchkula, Sep 21(UNI) Haryana Police have arrested six men for allegedly assaulting a hotel worker with sticks following a dispute over payment for food in Gurugram, a police spokesman said here on Monday.
The spokesman said the incident took place at around 9 p.m. on September 16 when the complainant, who works as a helper at a hotel, allegedly got into an argument with a customer who had come to collect food. The customer allegedly called his associates, who attacked the complainant and his companion with sticks, leaving the complainant seriously injured.

27-year-old man dies after honeybee attack in Panchkula forest

Panchkula, Sept 21 (UNI) A 27-year-old man died after being attacked by a swarm of honeybees while he had gone to collect firewood with two friends in a forest area near Pinjore in Haryana's Panchkula district, according to information provided by his family.
The deceased was identified as Raj Kumar, son of Manveer Singh, a resident of the labour colony at Rampur Seuri village. According to the family, Raj Kumar and his two friends had gone to the HMT forest area on September 18 to collect firewood when they were attacked by honeybees.
