Accused in cyber slavery case dies of heart attack in Telangana

Nizamabad (Telangana), Mar 14 (UNI) An accused arrested in Cyber slavery case died of a massive heart attack at Government General Hospital here on Thursday night.
Nizamabad Commissioner of Police P Sai Chaitanya said that a case was registered against Alakunta Sampath for enticing unemployed rural youth from Telangana and trafficking them to Thailand, Myanmar, and Laos, where they were forced into cyber slavery.
Sampath was booked under Crime No. 10/2025 at the Cyber Crime Police Station (CCPS), Nizamabad, under various sections of the BNS, IT Act, and Emigration Act.
Following his arrest, Sampath was remanded to judicial custody and later sent to police custody on March 12, for further investigation.
During questioning, Sampath confessed to his involvement in the crime and disclosed that he had hidden two mobile phones in Jagtial. Acting on this information, the police recovered the devices from Sampath's office, Srirama International Manpower Consultancy, in the presence of mediators and Panchas to ensure transparency.
After concluding the seizure proceedings, Sampath was returned safely to CCPS, Nizamabad, by 2145 hours on March 13. However, at approximately 2210 hours, Sampath complained of fatigue and left-hand pain.
Recognizing the urgency, police immediately took him to Government General Hospital, Nizamabad. CCTV footage confirmed that Sampath walked into the hospital on his own. Tragically, at around 2229 hours, Sampath suffered a massive heart attack and, despite emergency medical efforts, could not be revived.
An FIR (Crime No. 101/2025) under Section 196 of BNSS has been registered at 1 Town Police Station, Nizamabad, and an independent investigation is underway.
This investigation adheres to the guidelines set forth by the Supreme Court, NHRC, and BNSS. A DSP rank officer is overseeing the inquiry to ensure impartiality.
The Human Rights Commission has been notified, and a judicial inquest is being conducted by the Judicial First-Class Magistrate. A post-mortem examination, conducted by a team of three forensic experts, will be audio-video recorded for full transparency.
Authorities have assured the public that the investigation is being conducted with the utmost diligence, ensuring all legal and procedural protocols are strictly followed, according to a police statement on Friday.
