Ambedkar's statue vandalised in Prayagraj, ruckus created

Prayagraj, Apr 1 (UNI) Agitated people created ruckus after the statue of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar was vandalised by some miscreants in Manda area of Prayagraj district here in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday, police sources said here.
Police sources said that the statue of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar was damaged by some miscreants in Tikri village under Dighiya police outpost area on Monday night. "When people saw the right hand of the statue broken on Tuesday morning, they started creating a ruckus," they said.
Police sources said that on receiving the news of breaking the statue and the ruckus, Sub Divisional Magistrate, Meja Dashrath Kumar, ACP Ravi Kumar Gupta and the force of two police stations reached there. "Police and administration officials pacified the people by explaining them. The force has been deployed in the village," they said.
On receiving information about the incident, Bhim Sena workers have also reached there along with people from social organizations. The villagers have given a complaint in Manda police station. BSP officials gave a letter to the police station regarding the arrest of the person who vandalized Ambedkar's statue.
Samajwadi Party's district president Yamunapar Pappu Lal Nishad has strongly condemned the incident. He said that the party's MLA from Meja Sandeep Singh Patel has gone to the spot and has demanded strict action against the culprits in the incident and the administration has demanded to install a new statue soon.
