Punjab SC Commission directs police to ensure security of Ambedkar's statues

Chandigarh, Apr 2 (UNI) Punjab State Scheduled Castes Commission (SSCC) Chairman Jasvir Singh Garhi on Wednesday wrote to the state police chief to ensure the security of Baba Sahib Ambedkar's statues in the state.
Garhi stated that anti-national slogans were written on the statue of Ambedkar in Nangal village of Phillaur tehsil, for which Gurpatwant Singh Pannu has taken responsibility by releasing a video.
In view of this, a case of sedition should be registered and a Red Corner Notice issued against Pannu who must be brought to India through the country's central agencies. Appropriate legal action must be taken against him, the letter said.
He also demanded the state police to instal CCTV cameras for ensuring the security of Ambedkar's statues at various places in the state so that no anti-social element can commit such an incident in the future.
He wrote that if such incidents continue to happen in Punjab, the state's communal harmony would be threatened causing economic and social losses. UNI GS SSP
