AP: 5 killed as car rams container truck

Tirupati, Apr 28 (UNI) In a ghastly road accident, five people including two women and a boy, were killed and two were critically injured when the car in which they were travelling rammed a container truck at Thotapalli village of Pakala mandal on the Puthalapattu-Naidupet national highway on Monday.

Police said that eight seven people belonging to one family went to the hill shrine Tirumala from Tamil Nadu.

When they were going back to their native town, their car rammed a container truck at the rear end killing five people including two women, a nine-year-old boy and two men instantaneously. The roof of the car was blown off under the impact of the ramming the truck and the bodies were scattered on the road creating a horrendous scene on the highway. Half portion of the car penetrated into the container truck at the rear end, the police said.
The deceased and the injured belonged to Krishnagiri area in Tamil Nadu. The police are yet to identify the deceased and the injured. The police registered a case and shifted the bodies to the GGH.
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu expressed shock and grief over the ghastly road accident in which five people were killed. He directed the Tirupati district officials to provide the best medical treatments to the injured. Deputy Chief Minister K Pawan Kalyan also expressed shock and grief over the death of five pilgrims who were going back after visiting the hill shrine Tirmala.

Minister for Transport M Ramprasad Reddy spoke to the district officials and knew about the reason for the ghastly accident. He assured of providing required help to the bereaved families.
