AP: CM resolves to complete Handri-Neeva Sujala Sravanthi project expeditiously

Vijayawada, May 8 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has decided to complete the works of the Handri-Neeva Srujala Sravanthi project, which is the lifeline of the Rayalaseema region, at the earliest possible.
As part of his mission, the Chief Minister is visiting the Uravakonda Assembly segment in Anantapur district on Friday to personally inspect the ongoing project works.
Later, Chandrababu Naidu will participate in the developmental programmes taken up in the segment.
Though the then TDP regime had taken up the project works in 2014, the successive government totally neglected it like how it had ignored the Polavaram project. No canal widening and lining works were taken up by that government which came to power in 2019, despite knowing pretty well how useful this project is for Rayalaseema.
With the TDP-led NDA coming to power, the project work again got accelerated to realise the decades-long dream of the people of this region. Soon after the NDA came to power, Chandrababu gave administrative sanction to HNSS main canal works and for widening the Punganur Branch Canal lining. Already the Chief Minister directed the officials to see to it that the phase-1 works of the project should be completed by June 2025, following which the project works gained momentum for the past few months.
The state government has allocated Rs 3,873 crore for Phase-1 and 2 works to an extent of 554 km, and the water storage capacity will increase to 3,850m cusecs once the widening works are complete. A target has been set to complete the works in five months and the first phase works by next month itself.
The project works worth Rs 4,000 crore were completed during the previous TDP regime, and after the NDA came to power, the works again got accelerated. Chandrababu Naidu will personally inspect the project works at Chayapuram.
