AP: Telangana rice exports to Philippines from Kakinada port

Kakinada, Mar 31(UNI) Telangana rice exports to Philippines formally commenced from Kakinada port here on Monday.
Telangana Minister for civil supplies N Uttam Kumar Reddy, who landed here by helicopter has flagged off the first shipment of 12,500 metric tonnes into the Vietnamese vessel MV Troned N at a colorful function.
Since Telangana did not have port facility, the KCR government has proposed to have a dry port but did not materialize.
The Telangana government has signed an agreement with the Philippines for supplying 8 lakh MTs of rice from Kakinada port through Telangana state civil supplies corporation. Aditya Birla global trading (Singapore) private limited Philippines would import the rice on behalf of Philippines government.
Minister Uttam has personally supervised the first ever Telangana rice exports through Kakinada port.
