Telangana Govt slams misinformation over Kancha Gachibowli land issue

Hyderabad, Apr 1 (UNI) Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu on Tuesday criticised opposition political parties for spreading "misinformation" about the Kancha Gachibowli land issue.
He accused the BRS, which governed for ten years, of failing to reclaim government lands that had fallen into private hands.
Speaking to the media at the State Secretariat, the Deputy Chief Minister stated, “They are falsely claiming that the state government is trying to seize lands from Hyderabad Central University (HCU) to develop real estate projects.
"The University believed that these 400 acres were within its limits until January 13, 2024. However, during the tenure of the TDP government in the erstwhile united Andhra Pradesh, these 400 acres were taken from the university and allocated to a private company."
In exchange, 397 acres adjacent to the university were granted to HCU. The government has official records, signed by the revenue department and the university management at that time, to substantiate this. The people of the state and university students need to be aware of these facts. We will provide these documents to the media to counter false narratives.”
He emphasised that the government is now working to develop the reclaimed 400 acres into an employment hub. “We have seen how employment opportunities grew with the development of Hi-Tech City, Hi-Tech City Phase 2, and Knowledge City. Similarly, our government’s goal is to create vast job opportunities for the youth. At the time, these lands were misused, and now, false propaganda is being spread against us. The reclamation of these 400 acres is a success story for both this government and the people of Telangana,” he stated.
Minister Sridhar Babu reiterated that the 400 acres of land in Survey No. 25 in Kancha Gachibowli have always been government property. “BRS and BJP are misleading the public for their selfish political interests. This is unacceptable.”
He further clarified that the government has not taken even a single inch of land belonging to Hyderabad Central University.
“So far, the university has not had legal rights over even a single acre of this land. The students and staff have long been demanding that this issue be resolved.
However, during its time in power, the BRS did nothing. Now, they are launching a smear campaign against us after we have successfully resolved the matter. Just last week, we held a special meeting with the Vice Chancellor and Registrar of the university. Based on their request, our government has taken the necessary steps to legally grant the university its rightful land as per regulations,” he explained. UNI VV SSP
