AP Tourism Minister inaugurates paddy purchase centre

Rajahmundry (AP), Apr 5 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Minister for Tourism Kandula Durgesh inaugurated a paddy purchase centre at Morta village of Undrajavaram mandal on Saturday.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that paddy purchasing centres were opened in 216 Rythu Seva Kendras across East Godavari district to purchase rabi paddy from the farmers. Steps were taken to purchase two lakh metric tonnes of paddy as per the set target in the district.

Kandula Durgesh revealed that as per the Centre Government directive, paddy is being purchased from the farmers at the Minimum Support Price. Steps were also taken to procure paddy from the agriculture fields themselves from the farmers.
A quintal normal variety of paddy is purchased at Rs 2,300 while ‘A’ Grade variety is purchased at Rs 2,320, he revealed. Paddy was cultivated across the district during the rabi in 58,586 hectares, he stated.

Joint Collector S Chinna Ramudu and RDO Rani Sushmita were among those who took part in the programme.
