Arunachal: 2 drug peddlers arrested, 55 grams of suspected heroin seized

Itanagar, Apr 15 (UNI) In continuation of the war against drug trafficking under Operation Dawn 2.0, the Papu Hills Police successfully apprehended two drug peddlers and seized a substantial quantity of suspected heroin following a swift and intelligence-based operation.
Acting on credible inputs regarding drug peddling activities in the Borum area, a police team led by Naharlagun SDPO Rishi Longdo, and including Inspector Torum Mai, Inspector Bobby Sumyan, and constables Sachin K Rao, Sonam Namgey, and Pisa Tavak, launched a well-coordinated raid under the overall supervision of SP Mihin Gambo.
During the operation near Borum Bridge, a suspect identified as Soriful Islam (41), a resident of Chandmari in Assam's Lakhimpur district, was intercepted and apprehended . Preliminary interrogation revealed crucial information, leading the team to the residence of the alleged main supplier in Doimukh.
A subsequent raid at the identified location resulted in the arrest of Techi Bharat (26). A personal and house search conducted in accordance with legal procedures led to the recovery and seizure of 39 vials of suspected heroin, weighing approximately 55.05 grams.
A case has been registered at Papu Hills Police Station U/S 21(b)/27 of the NDPS Act, and both accused have been formally arrested.
SP Gambo commended the team for their swift and effective action and reaffirmed the department’s unwavering commitment under Operation Dawn 2.0 to eliminate the drug menace from the region.
