Arunachal Police felicitates officers for exemplary performance

Itanagar, Apr 3 (UNI) The Arunachal Pradesh Police (APP) organized a felicitation ceremony at the Police Headquarters here on Thursday to honour officers and personnel in recognition of their outstanding performance in law enforcement, particularly their crucial contributions to the war against drugs over the year.
Attending the event, Home Minister Mama Natung commended the tireless efforts of the police personnel in safeguarding citizens and combating drug-related crimes.
During the ceremony, officers who played a crucial role in two major cases—the Majibur Rahman Case and the Narcotics Encounter Case—were honoured for their exemplary performance. Their efforts have been instrumental in strengthening the fight against narcotics and upholding the rule of law in the state, a police spokesman said.
The officers felicitated for their role in the Majibur Rahman case included: Kengo Dirchi, SDPO Itanagar; Inspector Khiksi Yangfo, OC, PS Itanagar; Inspector Sushant Saurabh Jha, SI RK Jha, and constables Sandeep Yadav and Sanu Raj T. Their unwavering commitment and professionalism played a vital role in ensuring justice in this case.
It may be mentioned that Md Majibur Rahman, the prime accused in the 2008 Akashdeep double murder case, was sentenced to life imprisonment by the District & Sessions Judge, Yupia, in March last. Rahman, who had escaped from the Jully Jail in 2012, was rearrested last year by the Itanagar Police after a 12-year-long manhunt.
In recognition of their commendable efforts in the recent narcotics encounter case, the following officers were honoured: Itanagar SDPO Kengo Dirchi; U Vibu Krishna, IPS; Vivek Maurya, IPS; OC Inspector Khiksi Yangfo; Inspector Sushant Saurabh Jha, Inspector Rina Sonam, SI Tamo Bakhang, ASI Manish, head constable Bamin Tani, and constables C Niling, Boru Pali, Jeni Wangpan, and Jayanta Baruah.
Their dedication and prompt action were instrumental in effectively addressing this critical case wherein a notorious armed narcotics trafficker, Rohit (alias Ruhit) Basumatary, was apprehended following a brief but intense gunfire exchange along the Chimpu road on March 22 last.
Apart from these officers, personnel from neighbouring districts were also felicitated for their remarkable efforts in the war against drugs and counter-insurgency operations against underground (UG) elements.
Their relentless efforts in combating organized crime and ensuring peace in the region reflect the commitment of the Arunachal Pradesh Police to maintaining law and order across the state, the spokesman added.
