Bihar's health services in shambles: CPI

Patna, June 2 (UNI) The Communist Party of India (CPI) today alleged that the healthcare system in Bihar is in a bad state and patients were not being admitted to hospitals.
CPI state secretary Ramnaresh Pandey said here on Monday that despite four government medical college hospitals being functional in the state capital, the patients were not being admitted to hospitals.
He said that the rape victim did not get a bed for six hours in Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH) as a result of which she succumbed due to want of treatment.
The CPI leader alleged that the senior authorities of Bihar government have banned the admission of patients in the emergency of Patna All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS), PMCH and Nalanda Medical College Hospital (NMCH) at night following patients are forced to go to private nursing homes which have become a centre of loot in the name of treatment.
He further alleged that the other health centres of the state government were also in shambles with no proper health staff, medicines or other services related to treatment available.
Pandey alleged that the BJP which was holding the health department for the past 20 years has ruined the medical services in Bihar.
The CPI state secretary demanded that the state government improve the healthcare system, stop its privatisation, keep all hospitals open for 24 hours, make immediate appointments on vacant posts, and admit patients even at night.
