Hyderabad/New Delhi, Apr 1 (UNI) The contentious issue of Kanche Gachibowli land has now reached Delhi with the BJP state leadership stepping in to prevent the alleged sale of these land.
Under the leadership of BJP Telangana president Kishan Reddy, a delegation of BJP MPs, including Union Minister Bandi Sanjay, Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, Etala Rajender, Dharmapuri Aravind, and Nagesh, met Union Human Resource Development Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to seek his intervention, a party statement here said on Tuesday.
The MPs highlighted the ecological significance of these lands, which house around 700 species of medicinal plants and 220 species of birds, making them vital for Hyderabad's environmental balance. They expressed concerns that converting these lands into real estate projects would lead to the loss of natural heritage while generating massive financial gains for private entities.
The BJP leaders also pointed out that students of the University of Hyderabad (UoH) and citizens of Hyderabad are strongly opposing the government's decision to repurpose the lands. The delegation urged the Union Minister to take immediate action to protect these ecologically sensitive areas and prevent their commercial exploitation.
