BJP slams Reddy's Govt as ‘Jumla Regime’, demands transparency and accountability

Hyderabad, Apr 22 (UNI) The Telangana unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) came down heavily on the Congress-led state government on Tuesday, branding it as a "Jumla government" that thrives on announcements without action.
At a press conference held in Hyderabad, BJP State Spokesperson and Media In-charge N V Subash accused Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy of running a government rooted in deception and propaganda.
"Is this ‘Telangana Rising’ the new brand image, or is it actually Telangana sinking under the Revanth Reddy brand of governance?" questioned Subash, sharply criticising the state’s Rs 28 crore spending spree on publicity campaigns for schemes that, he alleged, have not materialised on the ground.
Citing recent findings by the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Subash condemned the government’s handling of farmer protests in Lagacharla over land acquisition for the proposed Pharma City.
He said the NHRC’s confirmation of police brutality exposes the stark contradiction between the Congress party’s claims of being pro-farmer and its oppressive actions against protesting farmers.
Subash further accused the state government of “monumental betrayals” of public trust, especially over unfulfilled promises related to the farm loan waiver and the Rythu Bharosa financial assistance scheme. “Flex boards and cutouts claim benefits for nearly two lakh farmers, but ground reality shows growing frustration and zero delivery,” he said.
He lambasted the Congress for quietly sidelining the Kalyana Lakshmi scheme and criticised the failure to deliver on promises made to jobless youth. “Of the Rs 24.45 crore allocated for unemployment assistance, only Rs 5.95 crore has been accounted for. Where has the rest gone?” he asked, calling it “daylight robbery of Telangana’s youth and their future.”
Calling for a white paper on fund utilisation across welfare schemes, Subash warned the government to come clean or face a judicial probe into alleged financial mismanagement and “fake publicity.”
He affirmed BJP’s solidarity with farmers, youth, and the economically weaker sections, asserting, “The people of Telangana voted for change—not for a circus of cutouts and camera optics. They deserve governance, not gimmicks; truth, not tamasha.”
