BJP trying to usurp Waqf Board land : Lalu

Patna, Apr 3 (UNI) RJD supremo Lalu Prasad on Wednesday alleged that the BJP was trying to usurp Waqf Board land by bringing the Waqf Board Amendment Bill in Parliament.
Lalu, who is undergoing treatment in AIIMS New Delhi, posted on his social media account X, that the BJP was trying to usurp Waqf Board land for this motive, Narendra Modi government had brought the Waqf Amendment Bill in Parliament. There was no doubt that the intention of the BJP was malicious and the party was keeping an eye on plots owned by the Waqf Board across the country, he added.
" It is painful for me that I am not in Lok Sabha during this difficult period when attack was being made on poor, minorities, Muslims, poor and constitution in House, otherwise I was alone enough to take on BJP to foil its sinister design ", Lalu said adding that he was pleased to see that despite his absence in Lok Sabha, leaders were found referring his earlier statement in House on the issue, albeit in different context. What I had said in Lok Sabha was to make a stringent law to protect the land of the Waqf Board and not for taking possession over it, as the attempt was being made by the government, he clarified.
RJD leader said that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar stood exposed on the issue of Waqf Board in parliament. Kumar had been making false claims to be secular so far, he remarked.
Earlier on Tuesday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh, also a senior JD(U) leader, had referred to the statement of Lalu in Lok Sabha in 2016 for making a stringent law on the Waqf Board.
However, both the leaders had said that they had fulfilled the wishes of Lalu in making a stringent law on the Waqf Board. It was in a different context that Lalu had made the statement in Lok Sabha, as he clarified that he was advocating for protecting the land of Waqf Board.
