BSF foils infiltration bid in Samba

Srinagar, May 8 (UNI) The Border Security Force (BSF) late Thursday night foiled a major infiltration attempt along the International Border in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir, an official said.
"Around 2300 hours on May 8, alert BSF troops detected suspicious movement near the International Boundary in Samba sector,” said a spokesperson of the BSF Jammu Frontier.
"On being challenged, the movement of suspected infiltrators was met with effective firing by BSF personnel, forcing them to retreat back to the Pakistan side," the spokesperson added.
Search operations were launched in the area, and the situation is being closely monitored. No breach of the border fence was reported, officials said.
The BSF has heightened its vigil in the region in view of recent intelligence inputs suggesting increased attempts to push terrorists into Indian territory from across the border.
