Cancer Care and Research Society to be constituted in Bihar : Minister

Patna, May 16 (UNI) Health Minister Mangal Pandey on Friday said that the state government had decided to constitute the Cancer Care and Research Society, which would immensely help in the treatment of cancer patients in Bihar.
Pandey said that the decision taken by the state cabinet to constitute the Cancer Care and Research Society was historic, boosting the treatment facilities for cancer patients in Bihar.
With the constitution of Cancer Care and Research Society, cancer patients would no longer be required to go outside Bihar for treatment, as quality treatment for them would be made available in their home state itself, he added.
The minister said that the Cancer Care and Research Institute would function as the top institution of Bihar, having the responsibility to ensure quality treatment for patients of the state. A massive awareness drive would also be launched in Bihar to make people aware, how to protect themselves from falling into the trap of the dreaded disease, he added.
" It was noticed that cancer patients in Bihar had increased alarmingly, and in the given scenario, the decision to constitute Cancer Care Research Institute is a visionary step having far-reaching consequences", the Minister said, adding that treatment facilities had increased considerably under the regime of the Nitish Kumar government. Before the NDA government was voted to power in 2005, people had no option but to go outside Bihar for treatment for even normal ailments, he added.
