CM Majhi announces incentives for kendu leaf pluckers in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Mar 26 (UNI) The Odisha government has allocated Rs 50 crore for the successful implementation of the Chief Minister's Kendupatra Tolali Yojana through the Chief Minister's Kendupatra Kalyan Panthi in the financial year 2024-25, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi informed the State Assembly on Wednesday.
Making a statement in the Odisha Assembly on the measures taken by the State Government under the Mukhyamantri Kendupatra Tolali Yojana for the welfare of Kendu leaf pluckers, Majhi said the government has announced a provision of Rs.52.63 crore as benefits at a rate of 25 per cent for 8,59,449 Kendu leaf pluckers for the 2024 Kendu leaf crop year.
He stated that out of the 8,59,449 Kendu leaf pluckers in the state, 83.92 percent are women.
