Cong to stage Black flag protest during PM's TN visit on Apr 6

Chennai, Mar 31 (UNI) The Congress party will stage a black flag protest
against Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Tamil Nadu on
April six, condemning the BJP-led Government for not releasing due share
of funds to the state under various schemes.
In a statement here, TNCC President and Congress Legislature Party leader
K Selvaperunthagai said ever since the BJP government headed by Mr Modi
assumed office it has been deceiving Tamil Nadu and Tamils through its
anti-people policies.
He said the Centre was acting against the interests of Tamil Nadu by attempting
to impose Hindi in the name of three language policy under NEP-2020, trying to
reduce representation in Parliament under the proposed delimitation based on the
current population, non-release of Disaster relief funds for state, which was battered
by Cyclone and heavy rains.
Mr Selvaperunthagai also slammed the Union Government for not releasing funds
under the SSA for the school education sector and not taking adequate steps to
exempt Tamil Nadu from the purview of NEET exams, which has claimed the lives
of several young medical aspirants, adopting biased approach in allocation of funds
for various projects despite getting large share of GST revenue from TN, exerting
pressure using the Governor on duly and democratically elected governments in
non-BJP ruled States, delay in releasing its share of funds for the Chennai Metro
Rail Project Phase-2.
He also had a dig at the Centre for not releasing Rs 4,034 crore wage dues for the
poor under the 100-day MGNERGS scheme since it was named after Mahatma
Gandhi, among other things.
To condemn the indifferent attitude of the Centre, the TNCC will organise black flag
demonstrations in all the district headquarters of the State on April 6 when the Prime
Minister will visit Tami Nadu to inaugurate the iconic new Pamban Railway bridge
connecting Rameswaram Island with the mainland and address a public meeting.
