Cooperatives will uplift the needy: Rajasthan CM Bhajanlal Sharma

Jaipur, May 2 (UNI) Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma on Thursday stated that the state government is committed to benefiting the needy through all its welfare schemes, and cooperatives play vital roles in achieving the goal.

He emphasized that the government is working to make all villages in the state prosperous and happy through a cooperative spirot.
Addressing the first meeting of the State Apex Committee of the Cooperative Department, chaired by him, Sharma said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, all sections of society are being empowered through cooperation.

The United Nations General Assembly has declared 2025 as the International Year of Cooperatives.

Sharma directed officials to organise various programs, including awareness campaigns, cooperation fairs, membership drives, and workshops, to connect more people with cooperatives.

He emphasised that departments related to rural areas, such as agriculture, revenue, panchayati raj, rural development, and animal husbandry, should actively contribute to these programs.

The Chief Minister mentioned that the state government is preparing a new cooperative code to make the Cooperative Act more relevant in the current context, which will bring about significant improvements in the modernization of cooperative societies.

He instructed officials to increase the number of members in cooperative institutions, computerize cooperative institutions, and make the process more transparent.

Sharma also directed that the computerisation of PACS be completed within the stipulated timeframe and that new warehouses announced in the budget be constructed with quality and within the specified timeframe. He suggested installing solar panels on warehouse roofs and issuing calendars for crop storage.

The Chief Minister emphasized that the Cooperative Department and Rajivika should work in coordination to strengthen cooperative banks and provide economic support to women. He also directed officials to brand products made by cooperative institutions to increase their income.

The meeting was attended by Agriculture Minister Kirodi Lal Meena, Animal Husbandry and Dairy Minister Joraram Kumawat, Food and Civil Supplies Minister Sumit Godara, and Urban Development and Local Self-Government Minister of State Jhabar Singh Kharra, along with other officials. UNI XC AKT SSP
