Darshanapur demands Modi's resignation over AI crash

Yadgir, June 13 (UNI) Karnataka Minister for Small Scale Industries Sharana Basappa Darshanapur on Friday demanded the resignation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the Ahmedabad plane crash, terming it a "major national tragedy" and citing the need for moral accountability.
Speaking to reporters here, the Minister said the incident ranks among the gravest aviation disasters the country has witnessed, and that it has triggered widespread concern and analysis across sectors.
"This is a massive tragedy for the country. The Prime Minister, who is known to the people as biggest leader of the nation, must own moral responsibility and resign, along with the concerned Union ministers," he said.
Darshanapur drew parallels with former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri, who had resigned after a railway accident during his tenure.
He added that Congress leaders, including party president Mallikarjun Kharge and other senior members, have expressed deep condolences over the incident. "Every life lost is valuable. I pray for peace to the departed souls and strength to the bereaved families," he said.
Responding to political criticism, Darshanapur also took a veiled dig at the BJP.
"We are not like the BJP, who demand resignations for everything. We are not irrational. But in this case, accountability must be shown at the highest level," he said, indirectly referencing BJP's recent calls for Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s resignation over the Chinnaswamy stampede incident.
Further investigation and reports on the crash are awaited as aviation authorities continue their probe. UNI BDN SSP
